Work flow error - Insufficient security permissions for user X

I have  workflows that are assigned to a user group.  The users in the group all have roles that should allow them to have a workflow assigned to them.  HOWEVER, the users that do not have system admin as a role create the error.

This is happening in Ledger daily journal workflow and customer free text invoice workflows.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

Please check if these users have the permission for the privileges of the Approve free text invoices and Approve ledger journal.

    Hi Heather,

It should be related to security. Check if these users do have permissions on the approval menu items and also do have acces to at least read the free text invoices and journals.

I have similar problem with custom WF, with custom query in document class. When I debug this issue, I saw that error message is misleading, and problem was in custom query. if you look into class SysWorkflowDocument, method assertAsUser(), you will see this piece of code:

Basically, if document query returns empty buffer, then "permission" variable is "false" and AX will return misleading message that "user don't have insufficient rights...", but problem is not in user rights, but in query.

    Maybe this will help someone....

    Hi Branislav,

In case it works as system administrator, then still it is related to the granted permissions. If due to insufficient permissions the query is not returning data, then the user needs to have permissions to read data from the query.

I agree (in first part). But... rather it works as system administrator or not, if query (from document class) doesn't return anything (not necessary  security related, but also bad joins between datasources, bad ranges...) then AX will throw this error.

I know this is old but I wanted to respond and expand on CrniBranislay's answer.
User CrniBranislay is correct.  This error is showing because of the query.
More specifically it is showing because although you were allowed to submit, the query isn't returning a record for the workflow to process.
    It's a very misleading error.
