Multi Select Option Set in a Chart

Hi There,

I am trying to build a simple bar chart that shows how many scheduled visits an employee has and what type of visits they are. We use a multi-select to indicate what type of visit the employee is going to be conducting, and I want that reflected in the chart but I can't choose the field as one of the Horizontal Axis Labels.

Am I missing something here? This should be such a simple chart to display but it seems that the CRM doesn't support it? I'm not sure, let me know what you think and let me know if you need more information from me!

Thanks,

Steven Andary

In Dynamics 365, multi-select option sets aren't natively supported in charts, which is why you're unable to select that field for your Horizontal Axis Labels. Multi-select fields complicate charting because each record could contain multiple values for a single field, making it challenging for the chart to categorize the data effectively.

To work around this, you might consider creating additional fields or a separate entity to store individual visit types per visit record. Then, use those fields or relationships to categorize the data in a chart. Alternatively, Power BI could be used as it allows more flexibility with multi-select fields and could pull in your Dynamics 365 data for a more customized chart.
