Creation of Work for Inbound Load

I created a new load against PO, however do not see any work transaction created it. I want to check Pick Put process but unless work is created, can't go ahead with it.

FYI, I have work template created for purchase order but no help.

Is there any manual available for work entries creation? or someone can guide on the setups.

Any help is appreciated!

RE: Creation of Work for Inbound Load - Ax 2012 R3

    Hi Vivek,

There could be many causes for this. Are you using the standard demo data or did you setup the system from scratch?

If it is not creating work, one of the issues could be that the item has not the storage dimension group attached to use with Warehouse management. (On storage dimension group you can enable 'Warehouse management'). The demo company does only have a few items setup to use a storage dimension group suitable for WMS in R3.

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for putting your suggestions here!

I am using standard demo data. I checked the item setup and confirms that it has storage dimension group to use with w/h management.

There are couple of other setups too at item under Warehouse Management factbox like Unit sequence group id which also has the value.

Also @ Transportation Management factbox against item - Enabled

But all efforts not helping out.

not sure if there is something related to Filter code at warehouse management factbox against item where I am not able to select any value. Getting an error message - 'Item filters can not use wild card.'

    Regards

You don't mention how you're trying to create the work.  Work isn't created just when you create a Load, you have to do something to create the work.

For inbound work (such as PO's), you initiate this work generation via the new Mobile Device.  Is this how you're trying to create work?  If so, tell us what your Mobile Device Menu Item setup looks like and that might help determine what the issue is.

    Thanks Rob,

    I got your point here!

I didn't initiate this work generation via mobile device. This setup I was not aware of. Can you please guide me with the setup steps to configure mobile device menu items?

    Appreciate your help!

    Hi Florent,

    1. In Run command, write "inetmgr" and system opens 'Internet Information Service Manager' window.

    2. Expand Sites folder

    3. Select option of 'Dynamics AX WMDP Default'

    4. On right hand side Actions pane, you will notice 'Browse website' option. Under which click on 'Browse:82 (http)

    5. System opens up a new browser page asking for User ID and Password

    6. This User ID and Password to be setup in Warehouse management --> Setup --> Work users --> Worker

here create a new worker and setup your password.

Once you login then you can start pick and put process.

    Hope it helps!

    Hi,

Can we receive (pick and put) a PO order In the DAX front office ?

Or the work can only be created with mobile device ?

    Hi Benoit,

Per my best knowledge and what I have explored so far, it can only be created with mobile device and not from DAX front office.

I am also in between of this query, hope one of the expert can read and answer on this :)

Nothing prevents you from using the mobile device portal in your front office (by that I assume you mean the Win32 AX client). Since the portal is an IIS-hosted web site, you can just open up your preferred browser and log in from there.

You can also try using the manual work completion form (you can access it by clicking on Complete work button on the All work list page). Note, however, that this form has limited functionality as compared to the mobile device portal.

You can also use the standard AX functionality (manual registration) in case you don't want any work created.
