Microsoft Word "Repair" Error

Hello:

Although one of our GP 2013 R2 (12.00.1920) users was able to click "OK" to the error and proceed with generating Microsoft Word documents out of GP, the error stated "An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Please run Setup and select 'Repair...' to restore this application.

In general, how do you eliminate this error with Word integration? The steps below indicate that a registry setting can alleviate this. Should these steps be followed?

Exit Word 2010.
Start Registry Editor.
In Windows 7 or Windows Vista, click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
In Windows XP, click Start , click Run , type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK .
Locate and then click to select the following registry subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Options

After you select the subkey that is specified in step 3, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click DWORD Value.
Type NoReReg , and then press ENTER.
Right-click NoReReg , and then click Modify .
In the Valuedata box, type 1, and then click OK .
On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.

Note: In order to block the Repair in other versions of Microsoft Word, it will be necessary to create this registry key for each version. Replace the version number in the path with the appropriate version.

Chances are none of us are experiencing this issue. The only way you will be able to tell if the above steps work for you is by performing them yourself in the affected environment. This error also sounds like the Open XML 2.0 library used to integrate to Microsoft Word may be damaged. You could probably uninstall that and reinstall the latest version from the Microsoft Download Center

If any Word user is facing corruption in its Word documents (.DOC or .DOCX), he/she must try a few easy tricks. The tricks I'm sharing here can help you open corrupt Word file or repair it without using any 3rd paid tool. First you should try to open Word document:

in OpenOffice Writer tool. It can open corrupt/damaged Word file, but only if corruption is minor.

via Open and Repair feature of Word program. It's a built-in repair feature that can repair Word document and open it.

If you can't open Word document, then you should try to recover its content. How?

You can use "Recover Text from Any File" Converter of Word feature of MS Word program.

If this doesn't work for you, you should try to insert corrupt document into a new document.
