Change legal entity ID in D365F&O

Hi ,

Can you please help me with the following query from a partner :

Is it possible to change the legal entity ID in D365F&O?  I have seen there is an option to copy data to new legal entity which requires detailed analysis of existing data and then it can be moved to the a new legal entity. But instead of moving data and creating a new legal entity is it possible to change the ID (e.g. USMF à GEMS) ?

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

It is not possible to change the ID from UI, you can change the name only from UI.

I would advice not to do this, instead you may change the name because the ID hardly matter for Legal requirement or external documents and all the details will be with name only, which you can change anytime.

Please let us know if this is fine or else share the purpose to do this, it is highly not recommended.

    Hi Talent,

Even if a change of the ID would be possible - which is not the case - I would recommend creating a new one.

Why is it that you need a new ID?

The ID is usually not something business critical.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Talent,

The Legal Entity ID (DATAAREAID) is super critical to modify in the system. There are many setups and fields information and transactions directly reference to company ID so please avoid renaming/modifying it from UI or even from backend and just create new fresh legal entity.

    Hi Talent,

As mentioned above, you can't change the legal entity ID. Also note that you can copy data from one LE to another, but not all tables. It is not possible to copy e.g. transactions. The copy is supported with data entities which are created for parameter, setup, master data and worksheet tables.

just create a new one instead of change LE id for security reason.
