Working with a client that has a mixed installation - many on desktop installations and many more on Web Client. All running on GP (18.3) and it is all working well.
Challenge now is that we are trying to expand the use of the system for the Web Client users and that is now looking like the Excel Reports are the way to go.
From the Desktop Client there is no issue running the excel reports and the clients on this installation are ok
From the Web Client the users can do all that is required - that is good. However, as soon as we run the Purchasing Dashboard (as example) is a message "this functionality is not supported"
End of message and there is nothing else showing up.
Questions
1. Is this something that we have to address with change to the application configuration?
2. Is this a known issue? If so, what do we do to fix.
3. If this is not a known issue what do we need to do to resolve?
Thanks and look forward to getting this matter resolved with the assistance from the community.
Anyone have any suggestions. I am able to run GP from a desktop installation with Excel loaded locally - is it a matter of having GP on the WebClient machine?
[/quote]alternative is to simply plan a drive to the conveyed Excel reports and permit clients to get them from Windows Explorer. They would in any case be held to similar security principles, they would simply be getting to them in an unexpected way. Publix Oasis
Hello Bill,
Are you trying to launch the Excel Report from the Navigation List in the Web Client session? When I just tested this in my Web Client deployment I see the same message, even though I was on the Web Client server and the Excel reports were deployed on that local server, so it isn't a pathing issue. It appears that it is just something that isn't enabled in the Web Client.
As a workaround you could use the Shortcut bar (from a Desktop Client) to add a shortcut to the Excel reports folder. Using the Web Page option seems to work for me. This would require you to either log into the desktop client or manually insert a record into the Shortcut Master (SY01990) table in DYNAMICS. I haven't tested this second option to the point of it working yet though.
Another option is to just map a drive to the deployed Excel reports and allow users to get them from Windows Explorer. They would still be held to the same security standards, they would just be accessing them differently.
Anyone have any suggestions. I am able to run GP from a desktop installation with Excel loaded locally - is it a matter of having GP on the WebClient machine?
