What options are available to connect our customers and vendors to order status using Business Central and Microsoft stack?

Looking for a website/portal data-driven from Business Central where:

  1. customers can check the status of their order
  2. vendors can log in a view purchase orders
  3. vendors can view their item pricing
  4. vendors can update the status of their orders, ship date
  5. vendors can mark orders shipped
  6. SMS communication with customers when their order is received and when it is shipped
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

Your partner can probably tell you more what options you can choose from.

    Thanks.

For customer and vendors accessing data a Powerapps portal could be used. You can have one that uses granted logins but all data needs to be in CDS so integration mapping is vital. This option isn’t cheap either. I have tended to lean towards a team member license and doing personalisation and having a dedicated permission set.

SMS wise have a look at logic apps or power automate. You can connect to SMS based services which work off of BC triggers from that connector too.

    • What makes powerapps portal so expensive?
    • your suggestion is to create users for vendors to access BC directly with limited permission sets?
      • We have hundreds of vendors so that would be cost-prohibitive to purchase these additional licenses.
    • Yes I have used power automate with twillio but there is limited access to exposed tables, nowhere can I access purchase orders using this solution

There are a couple of ways to do it. You need to use the Web Services in some way to syncronise the Business Central the data to the web platform. There is no additional costs for using the web services which makes them great to use.

I did similar using this https://b2bwebsite.co.uk/integration
    - Customers have a login that links to the BC vendor account
    - They can then log in and see orders and purchase orders and so on
    - Item pricing we drove from the website to feed back into BC as there was complex margin setups
    - Account screen to see orders/invoices/balances and so on from BC
    - You could add in courier integrations and text alerts and so on, that is more driven on the website side as opposed to BC

There is also a Shopify option - https://apps.shopify.com/dynamics-365-business-central
However it it does not really explain how in depth the integration goes (this was released after we did ours) as i'm not sure if you require Shopify+ to then use B2B features).

This looks to do it but no idea on how they charge it, but looks pretty comprehensive with various niche market options which looks really good.
