Difference between Dynamics 365 Finance and F&O

What are the significant differences between Finance and F&O?

F&O which is managed in LCS does not look like the D365 Finance application.

I already use Sales, Customer Servivce and I am familiar with Project Operation and Field Services.

I see that the screens of the Finance app seem to be power apps that are presumably built on a Dataverse base with the Common Data model. However, the F&O screens do not look like that. The look and feel is completely different.

Is Dual Write necessary with Finance?
I have the same question (0)

    Hy,

for the differentiation of F & SCM you can find answers here.

The Finance app is on the same platform as the SCM app, both are basically no Power Apps.
Even some smaller parts and moduls are Power Apps that will have to be started form within the Power Apps portal.
E.g. Business Process Analytics, Vendor Invoice Capture, ....

You can use D365 Finance as a standalone app, this does not require DualWrite.
If you want to integrate with any D365 CE apps (Sales, ...) Dual Write could be a good approach.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

    My very high level take:

    F&O Apps: Platform
Finance, SCM, HR: Apps on the platform

    Similar to:
    CE Apps: Platform
Project Ops, Sales, Field Service, etc

Andreas has added much more detail but hopefully this helps too.

They're different names for the same product.  The only thing that changed between the two was the licensing model.  Finance (F&O) are built on their own platform, although MSFT has recently been adding links to Power Platform apps within Finance (F&O), such as Business Performance Analytics, Invoice Capture, Business Performance Planning, etc.

    Hi,

As mentioned by others, the features and platform is the same. It is just the naming and licensing model. Where do you see differences between F&O and Finance?

Some new features are built on Dataverse and Model driven apps, but the core of the Finance application is still on the F&O platform.
