Hi Guys,
We have recently switched from DotDigital (formly Dotmailer) to the Marketing Module.
Overal the switch has not been too bad.
However, one feature in DotDigital that seems to be missing (at least from what I can see) is the ability to take a list of mixed contacts (some of which already existing in crm and some that do not) from a csv file and assoicate them to a Marketing List.
Obviously, the expectation being, if a contact does not already exist in crm, the process would add them to the system and then assoicate with the targetted Marketing List.
Am I missing something?
From I want see, there are work arounds like the one detailed in the following link or something bespoke (customer app or power app) has to be used.

Thanks David
Hi David,
contact creation is an operation separate from segment/list creation. Imho, it makes sense as this should be an operation under control because it relates to C2 personal data and consent as well. Even user rights can be different (eg allowing c1 users or not to create new contacts).
If you have specific business scenario in mind, you can submit a proposal for a new feature on Ideas Hub here.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
It answers my question is so far that I now understand there is nothing standard for what I am after...
I was already aware of the first link (the standard data import process ) and the second link (using a custom field with a segment to make existing contacts), and I have used both. Although, thanks for providing the references.
However, I was hoping for something a bit more simple for the marketing users. The above would be fine for me but the marketing users just want a quick way of associating contacts with a list, regardless of whether the contacts exists in crm or not when the list is processed...
Additionally, our duplication rules make the above is tricky. Plus, only one user could use the custom field at one time. Where as, in our org, multiple users maybe importing aand overwriting the custom field at the same time.
WIth this in mind, I take something bespoke like a power app or custom app would have to be used?
Thanks David
Hi,
You can find guidance around importing here : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/import-data and full scenario guide is here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/email-excel
Hope this helps
