Running batch on distributed environment

Hi,

I am facing trouble in running a runbase batch process, where we have client and server on discrete machines (As usual). But when I have tried the same on my local environment where client and server resides on same machine, it runs perfectly fine.

So, is there any additional permission setting I have to manage in order to run the process on standard environment (the previous one). Any help would be much appreciated. :)

Rishi

what your RunBase batch job is doing? and what results are expected. it depends upon that.

May be there are methods which run on server and generate output on server only.

I have used runbase  batch to import data into one of my AX table using csv file.

okay, so where it goes wrong?

have you debugged the code? again same question when you call insert(). do you think any part of code is set to run on server only, because of which when a normal client(which is not on aos server) tries to use functionality, cannot get needed results.

when is property RunOn for class and calling meun item itself

Yes Sohaib, I have debugged it. Whenever I tried to run this runbase batch manually i.e if I provide file name using dialog field, it runs. But for making it run at a particular time, I have hard-coded the file path from where it will picks the file automatically and starts the process. But in second one, i.e. batch scenario, it doesn't work.

Yes, the RunOn property of class and menu item is set to CalledFrom.

when you provided file path manually, was this test done on SERVER or Rich-Client(Not AOS)?

    it was on Rich Client.

okay, so what kin of path you provided, as hard coded value ?

    UNC path

    or

    Local Path?

it's UNC path (I guess, don't know exactly) as the file resides in one of the users subdirectory.

getting this error in the batch log.

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
