Passwords for the database users of the new 10.0.24 VHD?

Hello.

Last week the latest VHD for Dynamics 365 Finance with version 10.0.24 was uploaded in the shared asset library. We have downloaded it and we tried to set it up for our needs.

We have followed successfully the instructions for the extra step that is needed for creating self-signed certificates to be used on the virtual machine (docs.microsoft.com/.../vhd-setup). But as it seems, from this version of the VHD and on, the database users (axdbadmin, mruser, etc) no longer have the default passwords they used to have in the previous version of the VM. So we cannot rename the financial reporting database, because we don't know the password of the MRUser. Furthermore we cannot install our licenses since we need a database user.

Is there anyway we can find the passwords of the database users of the new VHD?

Hi Vasilis,

You can try decrypting the passwords from the web config file. Please check this link for the commands you need to run to achieve this.

Thank you! I had totally forgotten about the capability to decrypt the passwords from the web.config. I used the command

C:\AOSService\webroot\bin\Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Framework.ConfigEncryptor.exe -decrypt C:\AOSService\webroot\web.config

and I managed to see what the new password is. And it is the same for all the database users.

Hi Team, I decrypted password but still I'm not able to login my axdbadmin user with that password, can I get some help here, please?

I am facing same issue running AdminUserProvisioning.exe elevated as admin. Login failed for user "axdbadmin" Did you ever resolve this?
