Sometimes it can take 5 seconds or more for a page to load in Dynamics CRM.
What are some of the causes of this? Is this caused by customizations or is it possible that it is Dynamics CRM itself and we need to do something to optimize the system?

There can be multiple causes for a page to take a long time to load.
What I would verify first is the amount of fields that are being loaded on the form.
