AX7 August Update Deployment

Yesterday I wanted to create an AX7 August environment from LCS. I get stuck in step 12c, because user Dynamics Deployment Services does not exist.

The application with this same name does exist.

Does anyone know if this user can be added manually, and if so, what should the exact settings be?

    Hi André,

I think Denis forgot to include the link and is referring to this thread. I haven't solved my issues so far, but I also don't have too much time to investigate further. I'm in discussion with Microsoft.

    Hi André,

Yes I found that discussion, and was hoping some progress had been made.

Thanks for your response, and if you learn more, please keep us updated.

    Hi André,

    I just got passed 12c! :)

I had changed some settings on Azure and tried again with a new project on LCS.

Then first started the authorization; then I added the Azure subscription with ARM enabled.

Can you indicate if the Azure subscription is owned by another email/tenant than the AX7 organization?

Did you start a new project on LCS from scratch?

In my case I do have an Azure subscription on e.g. *******@outlook.com. The AX7 organization is @axploring.onmicrosoft.com. It looks like you need to do some additional actions in this situation.

I have sent an additional email to Microsoft for clarification and review on my actions. I will update it soon here.

    Hi,

Yes, the Azure subscription is owned by another email/tenant.

I use the existing project in LCS.

I can access the tenant that LCS uses and see that the user Dynamics Deployment Services ([wsfed-enabled] is created there. But it is not synced to our main tenant. And I have to use that one because our own applications reside there (and they must communicate with AX7).

    Thanks.

    Hi André,

In my case I do have a live mail address which is the Azure subscription owner and an xxxx.onmicrosoft.com which is the organizational tenant for AX7.

The authorization should be executed with the Azure subscription admin user. In this case I got some errors like "not an organizational accout" or even a "403 access denied". Would you mind sharing your errors if you had some? They would be of interest for Microsoft to improve this ARM based deployment process.

On Azure Active directory I had made the email account of both active directories each other's administrator. Then I only got stuck om 12c.

After that I went to the classic/old Azure portal. Go to the subscriptions. Opened the subscription. Then at the bottom there is a button Edit directory. Then I changed the default directory to xxxx.onmicrosoft.com.

After this procedure I created a new project on LCS and started from scratch and succeeded.

I'm still talking with some guys from Microsoft if this would be the correct procedure.

I don't know the impact of changing the default directory.

They had said they were looking into a workaround, so probably a hotmail, live or outlook mail address as Azure subscription owner was not or not completely supported or considered. Like said I'm still getting to know more from Microsoft. Due to time zone differences this takes some more time. At least they stated you can continue on an existing LCS project rather than creating a new one when you got stuck.

    Hi,

Sharing my experience in this matter based on ax.help.dynamics.com/.../:

Issue 1: Could not get passed step 3 (unable to logon with MS Account given Co-Admin for the Azure Subscription - Illegal request).

Solution: Make sure the Azure Subscription is owned by the Office 365 (AAD) Tenant (may involve the EA Partner and access to the EA Portal). Described as "Note: The Azure subscription must be owned by an Office 365 tenant" in the Wiki article. Log on as the Azure Subscription administrator (special role).

Issue 2: Step 6 to 9 are obsolute IF you already have defined an Azure Connector for the Project in LCS (the Old Portal will also notify you about this when you try to upload). ONLY required if this is the first deployment.

In addition, it's important that you perform all tasks in 12 AND that you give the workflow some time (5 minutes) to finish before completing step 13 - you could try to press Next, but it will not finish immediately.

And perhaps making the new Azure Connector default for the project.

I'm now deploying a new DynAX Instance using the August/7.2 Platform Update on a customer owned Azure Subscription.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your inputs.

I tried to redo several steps, but now find that the option to deploy the August AX7 has been removed...

    Hi André,

The environment is still available. Did you login on LCS using the "organizational account"?

It's there again. Must have been a temporary thing :-)
