Print document if there is no print management settings configured

Hi

I would like to configure print management settings for customer statements, and then run it in batch.

The logic I want to follow is simple, but I am struggling with the settings:

  • If there is an email address configured to receive the statement at the customer level, send it via email
  • If not, print it out

I have configured Sales ledger | Setup | Forms | Form setup | Print management as follows:

4274.Capture.JPG

I then imported via X++ a "copy" record that looks like this:

7888.Capture1.JPG

But it always prints and sends the email.

If I check the "Do not print" in the "Original" entry, it sends the email but doesn't print it which is fine for this customer but not customers where we don't have an email address.  We would still like to print these and send them via another method.

Any help is much appreciated!!  I don't want to have to "Override" the default for every customer where we have an email address!

Many thanks

    Hi

Take a look at this method, and the first post in the comments.

Thanks Guy, would have been an excellent solution, had I had the option to choose a "Purpose" for the email in the "Print destination settings" dialog.  I suspect that is because we are running 2012 R2 CU1 and that option is a CU7 feature?

If so, is that a big upgrade which requires rigorous e2e testing?!

    Hi,

When installing a new CU I would always suggest testing all of the functionality of AX that you use. You never know if the updated code will work with your modifications or configuration or processes until you test it.
