How to create a placeholder Webinar Configuration for a dummy Webinar Provider for historical events

Posted on by 177

Hi,

My customer has Event Management and has a bunch of historical event webinars that they want to bring into Dynamics Marketing. The problem is, when you set an event to Webinar for the event format, it forces you to choose a Webinar Configuration. They also have On24 and we don't want to use that configuration here obviously. So I tried to create a "dummy" webinar provider for Zoom and a "dummy" Webinar Configuration record but it forces me to enter valid Client Access IDs and tokens which are not valid for Zoom. The record never accepts invalid values and so I can't set it up this way. How can I get around this? If I try to customize the "Event Format" type, any custom value also tries to use Webinar and forces the same Webinar Configuration requirement.

do you really care about being imported as "webinar", as workaround can you explore using "hybrid" if you are not actually using it.

    Hi pdr469,

When we set format to webinar, it will trigger some backend processes to validate whether the selected webinar configuration and type are valid.

Unfortunately the behavior is by design, there is no supported way for us to disable these processes.

You could disable javascript functions which execute at OnChange event of Webinar Configuration fields to prevent validation, but it may lead to potential issue.

From my test, I will still receive one time error notification(empty credential), but event is able to be saved and go live.

Please create a new main form or modify in a sandbox environment to test.

    Regards,

    Clofly
