RE: Dynamics 2016 On-premise compatible with SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 4 ?
Hello Remy
Thank you for writing to us .
Ideally when something that is not explicitly mentioned in the documentation is generally is not supported and there is a great possibility that the product may not even work . The simple ideology that is adopted is that the Dev teams test and on the confirmation of the tests the compatibility information gets updated .
Now we do have SQL 2012 SP1 showing up in the compatible list
If we are doing some development or exploration work then I would suggest we can give the use of SQL 2014 a try . Majority of the time it works and as SP4 is a higher version as compared to SP1 it will contain all the necessary updates and fixes. However if we are looking for some production implementation then I would suggest to follow the document as it is . This will help us get the appropriate support in the event we encounter any error messages during the course of installation and deployment of the CRM organization.
Please let me know if you have any other questions around the above. Please mark my answer as verified if you found it helpful.
