View item list with complete description

Hello, I am a relatively new user of NAV with virtually no training or support.  I have been asked to review our item descriptions and suggest changes to them.  I have administrative rights, however it appears that there is no way to view the items with the complete descriptions.  The item card only shows ONE line of the description and it does not appear that there is any way to view or access the complete description that magically appears when an order is entered.  The only way I can see this description is to actually open a quote and enter a line item.  I am certain that someone must have actually typed in these descriptions as they did not appear there out of thin air, and there is no information in the NAV help that indicates there is any way to enter anything except a single line on the Item Card.  However, the item descriptions that appear on the orders each contain about 10 lines, so where is this information stored?  It is not accessible through the Item Card as NAV help suggests.  Is there any way to access the FULL item description in a list or any other method?  A list would be best since I need to make changes to about 50 items.

Do you mean Extended Text Functionality?

You can Set Extended Texts for Items from Item Card-->Item-->Extended Texts

After entering the Item in Quote.

    Click Function-->Insert Ext. Texts..

It will add the Extended Texts in Quote Lines..

I've understood as Mohana. You use extended text functionality. If you want to change them regularly, you must use functionality from Item Card as Mohana said. If you have rights to use data in table, you can open 'Extended Text Line' table from Object Designer and change data.

You need to find lines with 'Table Name'='Item' and 'No.'=No. item you want to change desription. You will find many lines for each item, because description has 50 characters. You need to change description in 'Text' fields. If you need to open new line, you need to be careful, because line numbers has steps of 10000.

If you are not sure of yourself, better solution is you work from Item Card, as Mohana said.

Thank you.  For now, I just want to view a list of the items with the full description.  There are about 10 items that should have an identical description, except for size, but who ever entered them was not consistent, which confuses the customers when they see the quotes.  So, do I need to access the Table from the Object Designer for this?  I would like to save or print the table so I can mark it up with suggested changes for review by two other users.  Once we agree, I would make the changes.  But I can't seem to access any place to view a list with the complete description.

For example, on the item card I see:

    Item No     Description

    EM1234     BCT 1/2 x 3/32"A

    The quote prints

    EM1234     BCT 1/2 x 3/32" A

                       Clamp on Transducer

                       Tube type PVC or Silicon

                       One Calibration Included

                       Cable Length 2.9 M

                       IP65

Where is the rest of that information entered and stored?  Where can I view it?  I cannot see it on the item card, but I know it is associated with the item.  Can I print or save a list of items that includes that full description?

    Thanks for your help.

Look in Table 280 Extended Text Lines.  What version of NAV are you using?  If you are on NAV 2013 then you could use RapidStart to export the table data to Excel, make your changes, and then load them back in.

As I said in previous post, did you check in Iteam card?

Item (Menu Button) --> Extended Texts?

    Which version are you using?

    Classic/RTC?
