I have updated our server with the year-end update and i can launch gp fine on the server.  I installed the update on 3 workstations and only one of them work.  After i run GP utilties and launch gp it tells me that it is a different version from the server??  I am running the exact same update  file for each machine.  Any suggestions?

Are you logged onto the workstations with full local admin rights? I have seen situtations with security where it goes through all the motions during the installtion of the year-end update, but the code never does get updated. So you get the verison mis-matched message.

I am logged into each machine as the user of the machine.  I'm pretty sure all the admin rights are the same for  each user.

Are these user local admins? When you launch GP Utilities what version do you see? If you are using GP 2010 you should see 11.00.2160.

I have the same issue. I have full admin rights. I am running GP10. GP Utilities says I have version 10.0.1779

I have the same issue and the only difference is that the workstation that doesn't work runs XP while the others have Windows 7.  Are your workstations that are not working XP workstations?

    All our stations are XP

And three of them work, but the fourth doesn't?

On your servers, is it GP 10.00.1868 or 11.00.2160 for GP 2010? Also look in the DEX.INI file in the GP program folder. You will find these two lines:

    LastYearEndUpdate=

    LastTaxCodeUpdate=

What do they say on the server and then what do they say in the DEX.INI file on the workstaitions? You may also have a permissions problems on these workstations. Check out not only security for the GP program folders but also the permissions. You need to have full control plus have full permisison and owership of the folders to insure the upgrade will work.

If all else fails, I would try uninstalling GP, reinstall and apply the service pack and do this all while logged in as the admin user. Perhaps the original installation was done as someone else.

The Dex.ini files for the server and all of the workstations are the same.  We installed the update on the non-working workstation with both the user login (which has administrative rights on the workstation and on the domain) and installed it again when logged in as the administrator user.  Still doesn't work.

Please send me a private message and I will arrange to hook up to this miscreant workstation and take a look.
