How to install an extension created from the Sandbox?

I used the Design Mode in the Sandbox to remove a field and freeze another in a Cash Journal. I then named and save the extension. A zip file was created with the following contents:

app.json

PageExtension50100.al

a .vscode folder with a file called launch.json

When I try to Upload that extension, the wizard asks for a ".app" file. There is no such .app file to be uploaded.

I am not familiar with Visual Studio Code. Isn't it supposed to be a simple process to make design changes without code?

Thanks,

    Hello James,

another method is to use the commands AL:download symbols (a pop up will appear where you have to log in with your credentials) and then use AL:package to create the .app file.

Hi.. Not sure if this is correct?

My CTRL+F8 doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Thank you so much, Nissay. Worked like a charm. I followed your instructions to use VS Code to create the .app file.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Simon,

Well, as I know when you finish personlization using designer feature what you have customized is automatically installed as an extension. Check your Extension management and you'll find a new extension installed containing your changes.

Otherwise, if it is not the case or if you want to re-install your extension again with the .app package, unzipp the zip file generated in a folder. open the folder with visual studio code and use the shortcut CTRL+F8 to generate the .app package in the source folder you are using. Note that a window will prompt asking you to enter your credentials (D365BC credentials) on this process.
