SSRS: Unable to connect to report server

ReportReport

Hi,
I have a problem with one Reporting Server in our environment. The environment looks like this:

TS: Terminal Server with the AX client (AX2012 R3 RTM)
AOS-DEV: An AOS server with Reporting Services and extension installed.
AOS-TST: An AOS server with Reporting Services and extension installed.
SQL: SQL Server with SQL 2012, holds the Report Server databases

Both report servers are set up according to: https://technet.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/gg751340.aspx using the BC proxy account and access given to the same users/user groups.

I can deploy reports and reach the Report Manager URL on both DEV and TST environment locally, but I can only reach the Reports and Report Manager URL for the DEV environment from the Terminal server.

When trying to validate the settings in AX I get this error message: "Unable to connect to the report server at AOS-TST. Make sure that SQL Server Reporting Services is configured correctly matching the report server configuration in the Microsoft Dynamics AX client."

What might have been misconfigured, or is missing on the TST server? I have exhausted all my options and would really appreciate some help on this issue.

Thanks in advance,
Torben

What is the error message when you try to reach the Report URL from the Terminal Machine ?

Have you checked the firewall configuration ?

    Hi Matt,

From AX it is "Unable to connect to the report server at AOS-TST. Make sure that SQL Server Reporting Services is configured correctly matching the report server configuration in the Microsoft Dynamics AX client."

From IE: "This page cant be displayed."

HTTP is allowed through the firewall and i can also connect to the other Report Server. I don't know what other protocol/program should have an exception.

    Thanks,

    Torben

Are you able to telnet your server on port 80 ?

    from the RDS server:

    telnet AOSSERVERNAME 80

    Hi Torben,

IT looks like you the AOS-TST server is uable to reach from TS, ca you add the IP address of AOS-TST server in the TS hosts file.

If telnet client is installed , you can check with the below command whether you can reach to AOS-TST server or not from TS server.

    cmd-->Run as admin-->Telnet AOSServername portno

    Regards,

This is most likely security related.  Go to the reports url http://<ReportServerHere>/Reports then click on the drop-down for "DynamicsAX" folder, then click "Security", then make sure the domain\user account is added as DynamicsAXBrowser for either the AOS or BC user, depending on how you set it up.  I'd just add both for debugging.

Then click in the upper right corner "Site Settings" for the entire page, then click "Security" and add Domain\Domain Users as a "System User".  Restart the report server service, and then wait 5-10 minutes and then retry.  Hopefully this will help you narrow down exactly where the issue is.
