Is it possible to vary the unit cost of an item by variant code (or similar) regardless of vendor?
I'm looking for something like you can do with the Unit price - set it to 'all customers', and a different cost for each variant code.
What I'm trying to achieve is that the sales line picks up a different unit cost when a different variant code is specified.

This also can be done through the little modification in the system.
You can create SKU's with Item and Variant combination. Create one field on the SKU Card for Purchase price and when you select the variant on purchase line system should check this field value from the SKU card and if found the value then it update it on the purchase order line. this code you can write on the OnValidate trigger of variant code in purchase line. this will not lead too much customisation and also not impact on the system performance.
