AP Check Stub - History

Are there any solutions available that allows a Dynamics SL installation to retain a copy or image of AP Checks.  I have a site that when printing checks, first generates a copy to a file, and then generates the actual checks.  They are looking for something more interactive.

Would appreciate any feedback.  Thank you.

The MaxQ MICR Check add-on for SL includes an option to print file copies to another printer, including a "Copy" watermark on the face of the check. Redirecting that output to a PDF printer would accomplish what your client wants. The program also includes several security features.

You can middleware through this, instead of going with a SL orientes solution.

Both CUPS and Windows Print Server have an option to keep a copy of printed jobs. There are some commercial print management products that go the same way, some cheap and some pricey. I've done this myself only with CUPS, in order to be able to store and recall pdf versions of prior print jobs from some legacy system. Going 100% Windows Server might be tricky, since Win32 print spool files are kind of blurry.

I have to warn some caveats with my recommendation:

    • There are user data privacy concerns. This would work better if there's a dedicated printer for checks only.
    • There is an opportunity for fraud. The carbon copy version of the check should at least have a VOID watermark. If not, someone could edit each copy, add a zero to the amount or insert shadow payments and then forward them to the printer. The data itself could be compromising. Sorry to say some of this applies to the current site procedures.
