What is in Application.Dynamics.dll?

Posted on by 75,730

I have developed many customizations for Dynamics GP over the years.I just upgraded someone to 18.4.1461 and ran into an issue I had not seen before. After applying the 18.4.1461 upgrade the Application.Dynamics.dll had gotten upgraded. I have a customization dll that was not upgraded using that dll. What started to happen was when they would go to print any report and the print dialog box would appear, GP would simply exit. No Windows crash box it would just exit. Rebuilding the customized dll using the upgraded Application.Dynamics corrected this. What in this dll would have caused this behavior? My dll has nothing to do with printing.

I wonder what is was about the print dialog box that made GP crash? I am sure it had something to do with .Net.

    Hi Richard

The Application.Dynamics.dll is a Dictionary Assembly created by the DAG.EXE (Dictionary Assembly Generator) tool and signed by Microsoft.

It is DLL representation of all the forms, table and compatible functions and procedures in the Dexterity dictionary and must match the Dexterity Dictionary and all .Net Addins must be compiled against the matching version for the most compatible results.
