Routing calculation help

Hello everyone,

I have a quick question regarding routings, run times, etc.

Here are details below regarding my capacity.

- I have one Machine "Big Mill" that can produce the following: 4600lbs/hour, 76.67lbs/Min, 1.278lbs/Second, 0.01304min/1lbs

I have my routing, machines, work centers, production bom, etc all set up in LBS.

Production BOM is set up in lbs. I have two items that go into the BOM. Item 1 = .60, Item 2 = .40........ total = 1.

For Routings I entered 0.01304min in the run time because thats what it takes me to produce 1lb.

However when I use my planning worksheet to create a production schedule the start and end times are drastically off. It says I can produce large production orders within minutes, which isn't true.

Am I missing anything? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Jeff

    Jeff,

OK, you are using Just Foods Appian software. The Routing, in the Just Foods APP, seems to alter the time calculation. I would contact Appian Support on this as base BC does not create issue for routing times.

    Thanks,

    RE: Routing calculation help

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks again for your assistance.

I have changed the routing run time to 76.67

Created a sales order for 4,600lb.

Planning worksheet now says 6min to produce 4,600lbs.

How would I set up a conversion to let the system know for every min I work I can produce 76.67lbs?

Yes I have an addon called JustFoods.

    Jeff,

Are you using a Food APP ISV addon? The screens you copied look like some I have seen. With that said, my first thought is the Routing batch UOM = LB and the UOM on the Work Center. Work Centers should be in Minutes UOM. Do you have a conversion from Minutes to LB meaning for every 1 minute you work on .01304 lbs. I have this feeling the Batch UOM is taking the .01304 and when you produce 4600 lbs it thinks ( .01304/4600 making it a minute to produce). Can you try changing the Run Time = 76.67lbs per minute and then see the results.

Also, if this is an APP addon, I would recommend contacting the ISV to see how they use the Batch UOM in the Routing and its effect on planning.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for the quick response. I have tried to do the following in the attached photos. Still a production time that makes no sense....

My plants capacity is 4600lbs per hour. But large sales orders will vary, and will come in from 100,000lbs to 500,000lbs... Which would take days/weeks to make.

    Any thoughts?

    Jeff,

OK, I created a simple 2 component BOM and Work Center to produce a 4600 LB Item (Cookie)

My Released Production Order shows 1 hour which is the calculation I expected.

You can cut and paste into this by clicking 'use rich formatting'.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Yes that is correct. I don't believe I can attach photos.

    But here are the details

Routing 101: "Big Mill", run time 0.01304, everything else is 0, bach UOM code is LBS, certified.

Work Center: Unit of Measure code = MIN, shop cal is 24/7

Happy to email photos if that works for you.

    Thanks for your help Steven

    Jeff,

You say your Routing is setup as LBS but Work Center and Machine Centers are time elements meaning Minutes, hours, etc. or Units. Can you copy your routing image so I can see.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Production is also denominated in minutes. Thanks
