Report design - Column representing the last three months

How should be setup be so a column in a financial report (financial reports in AX or management reporter in AX2012) auto-fetches/shows the last three months regardless of actual month/start month for report e.g. being in May 2016?

    Hi,

Do you have access to the default column definitions that ship with MR?

If so, take a look at the "rolling quarter" column definition that shows the last 3-month of data by referring to the base period

If you define those columns as "non-printing" and add a calculation column that adds up those three, you should be able to achieve what you ask for.

I believe that there might be several other options how this can be achieved.

Yet that's the one that came to my mind.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig

Thanks. Yes, I've also seen this possibility. And upfront be able to setup a column definition for all 12 months and only show those relevant per "date".

However looking for a more generic solution covering "values from three months".

    Thanks.

    Hi,

OK. Then please try entering a column with the following setting

    fiscal year: base

periods covered: base-3:base (=> separate the periods by a colon)

    periods covered: periodic

This should result in the same outcome, requiring only one column.

Would be great if you could test and verify whether this works for you.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I believe such a such will not work. This will result in some average data (if I understand you as expected).

Hm....  Will look more into "base-3:bagse" not just for average :-).

    Thanks

    Hello Daxer,

The colon defines the from and to periods

Specifying Base-3 : Base does not mean that MR is dividing the values somehow but taking the sum of the periods Base-3 until Base.

Would be great if you could test this in your System and let us know how things work.

    Hello Daxer Persson,

Have you tried the option with the period range in MR and did it work out for you?

Fetching the total of last three previous months in a period amount column is done by setting "Period" as "Base - 3: Base -1" (while Fiscal year is Base and Periods covered as Periodic).

Expecting "today as origin when report is run".

So Ludwigs answer almost right for requirement.
