BOM calculation in AX 2012 R3

Hi,

I am not sure if the BOM calculation can fulfill or allow a developer to customize for the same.

I have a requirement to calculate multiple items at a time from BOM calculation, whereas I am not able to perform the same.

1. To calculate the costing version I follow Inventory management > Setup > Costing > Costing versions.

2. Costing version setup window opens. I select a line and click on calculation tab:

BOM-1.PNG

3. BOM or formula calculation results window open. Here I can select multiple items but I cannot calculate the quantity for the selected items.

BOM-2.PNG

4. Later, to enter the quantities for the selected items I go price> Item price from Costing version setup dialog box

BOM3.PNG

BOM-4.PNG

5. I hit calculation for the pending prices, where I can enter the quantity for the items.

BOM-5.PNG

This allows the user to enter the quantity value whereas, if I have the transaction for 1000000.... items I will have to go one by one which is difficult in real environment.

I can achieve only by changing or modifying from steps 3 and 5.

Either allow the quantity field to show on step 3 (BOM or formula calculation results window) or allow multiple itemid to get selected from step 5(Calculation for an item).

Can someone help with the same, as I am not able to either of the two scenarios mentioned to me.

I thought that if you did a BOM calculation for multiple items (your step 3) it uses the Default order settings > Inventory > Standard order quantity - have you set that field on your items?

Yes, but later they want to change the value of the items based on their requirements. So I should be able to enter the value of the quantity for all the selected items at once. How can I achieve this?

Sorry - I don't know how to do that with BOM calculation - but what exactly does "later they want to change the value of the items based on their requirements" mean? BOM calculation is trying to establish a 'standard' cost based on your normal batch size / production order quantity. When you create a production order you run a similar calculation at the estimation step and that's based on the production order quantity - so could you use the production order cost estimation and not the BOM calculation?

    Are you using standard cost?

    Yes I am, Fredrik.

But my requirement is to at a time to include the quantity value for the selected range of items.

    Any update?

This needs a new customization to build in. Anyone had the same requirement anytime?
