Track Revisions in Purchase Order, Sales Order, Good Received Note and Packing Slip

Hi Guys,

Need your quick help!

I want to track modifications/revisions made in PO, SO, GRN, and Packing Slip in D365—specifically:

What was changed (e.g., quantity, rate)

Who made the change

When it was changed (date/time)

From what I understand, the standard reports only show the last modified by, which includes actions like approval/confirmation—even if no actual data (like quantity or price) was changed.

Example:

  • PO created by Mr. AB
  • Approved by Mr. BA

  • Confirmed by Mr. CC

But “Modified by” shows Mr. CC, even if he just confirmed it and didn’t change any data.

Question:

1.  How can I track actual data changes (e.g., PO rate/quantity changes) with full audit details (what, who, when)?
2.  Is there any standard report, table, or setup in D365 to do this?
3. Any workaround or customization you’re using to capture this info?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Which D365 product are you using? The D365 brand covers quite a few things, such as Finance and Operations, Business Central or Customer Engagement.

You could use database logging for the data collection (and probably develop some data extraction to make it easier to use for a report). Or create a customization to log just what you explicitly need.

    Hi,
    Hi Saalim,
    Hope you are doing good,

You can always use feature called "Order Events" and you can configure it for sales order.

You can configure about what type of fields or change of data you would need to track.

For further information you can visit this blog,

For Purchase orders, there is always change management tracking for Purchase,

Let me know if this answers your question, Thanks,

    Warm Regards,
    Zain
