I’m facing an issue while trying to attach a document to a Posted Sales Shipment.
When I go to Documents→ Upload file, I get the following error: “The record is not open.”
From my understanding, a Posted Sales Shipment is a posted (historical) document, so it is expected that it cannot be “opened” for editing like a Sales Order.
My questions:
- Is this behavior expected in Business Central?
- Does attaching a document require the underlying Sales Order to be open instead?
- Or is there a standard way to allow attachments directly on posted documents?
Looking for guidance:
- Is this a limitation or configuration issue?
- Has anyone faced this and found a workaround (e.g., customization, using document attachments table directly, or attaching before posting)?
Any insights or recommendations would be appreciated!
