Select newly created record on a listpage grid

Hi friends.

I´m very new to AX. (2 months) and I have an urgent need, after spending time looking for the answer, I decided to ask you. It may be a simple question, but sometimes simple practical issues solutions are not found in manuals.

Anyway.

I have a listpage and a "new" button which leads to a "create" form.

I need, after creating a new record to return to the listpage and highlight this created record on the listpage's grid.

Can anyone help me, please.?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Excobar,

Usually, the functionality is not in the way you require it. If you look at the customers list page, the ne button will open a form which gives you the option to save and open the detail form. I do think that makes more sense compared to automatically update a listpage. Or can you otherwise explain the business requirement?

    Thank you friends.

I´m trying Crispin's orientation right now.

André, I see your point, but Crispin's tip seems more close to what I need, since what the client asked is exactly to go back to the refreshed listpage. I´ll just see if it will automatically select the new record.

    Well,

The refresh, research and reread worked perfectly by bringing the new record to the grid.

I´m still struggling to select it on the grid.

And there's a catch: the new one is not the last one, because the grid is sorted by a specific number and the new records are being given a new numeration which is neither higher nor lower than the "old" ones.

Anyway, I´ll have to re-run the caller query adding a sort by the recID (desc) and then, the newly created will be the first on the grid, therefore the one selected automatically.

Thank you again! (I'll for sure cry for help again here and hope I´ll be able soon to answer doubts or bring more dearing ones...)

    Cheers.

    Hi Escobar!

To get focus on needed record try to use findRecord() method.

    Check this link: https://community.dynamics.com/ax/b/axhari/archive/2014/12/16/form-datasource-find-record-method

Dear Rustem. I was kind of affraid of using findRecord() because it might take too long to be executed. But, at the end of the day, I used it. I wonder if I can check 2 different answers as valid...

Yes, you're right. It might take too long to be executed if you have a lot of rows.
