Project indirects costs - rules of priority

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all,

I am currently implementing indirects costs in Ax 2012 R2 on project transactions and I wonder what is the priority order apply among the differents rules.

I did the following test and I could not explain the result :

Seetings Indirect cost component group assignment rules

Consider the 2 lines :

- line 1 = If project catégory  is "1-Prestation" and worker  is "GONZALEZ LUQUE Sara" , then the group' ClcGONZALE" is applied (10,5€ per unit)

- line 4 = if ID project is "PA-06528" (including sub projects), then apply the group"CI-PA-06528" (15€ per unit)

When I posted a time transaction on worker "GONZALEZ LUQUE Sara" on the the projet "PA-06528" for 10 days (hours renamed days), I thought that the line on the project Id will be applied prior to the line with the category and worker.

But the result is that the component group applied is the one of the rule with category and worker and not the one with the project (see below)

Can anyone explain me the result and remenber the priority order for indirects costs component groups in the project module ?

Best regards

Claude

    Hi all

I got some informations from a technical colleague (see screenshots below); he confirmed the priority order that I mentioned previously (priority is managed with a descendant value as you can see in the first pictures) but it is no as simple as that.

I join others screenshots from AOT, relatives to methods or classes concerned, so as it could be useful by technical consultants.

    Hi Claude,

Please update the thread with your findings once you got some information from the developer.

    Hi André Arnaud

I had some informations about the priority order from a colleague - the order should be Date > Project > Contract > Customer > Category > Worker; but this priority order does not match with the case I submit.

That s why I would like to have others opinions.

I am to going to ask a developer to reverse engineer the execution logic  for having the exact priorities for the assignment rules.

    kind regards

    Claude

    Hi Claude,

The documentation is not giving the order, unfortunately. You can ask a developer to reverse engineer the execution logic to know the exact priorities for the assignment rules.

PS. Your second screenshot is too small to be able to read it.

    Hello Ludwig

The need is to add fixed amount on each day declared on hour journal or timesheet ("days" is a customization of label 'hours")

Indirect costs have a direct relationship to the hour postings that I make =  for each day consumed, I need to overburden costs with the  indirect cost component group relative to the combination found.

    Best regards,

    Claude

    Hello Claude,

Before jumping into indirect costs and how to set them up, may I ask you what kind of indirect costs you want to have assigned and post together with the hour transactions on projects?

Do those indirect costs have a relationship to the hour postings that you make? That is, can you specify a direct relationship between your indirect costs and the hours recorded on projects?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
