The following error occurred while installing Dynamics 365 v9.0.

---------------------------
Dynamics 365 Setup
---------------------------
Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.RegisterSandboxServiceAction failed.

An exception occurred during the Commit phase of the installation. This exception will be ignored and installation will continue. However, the application might not function correctly after installation is complete.

Time out has expired and the operation has not been completed.

Can anybody tell me what could be wrong?

    Hi,

    Hope you are doing well!

Please check error log in Microsoft.Crm.Sandbox.HostService.log

Check service accounts permissions according to blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../

Also, verify that the user that performing the commit operation is able to reach the folder " C:\Program Files\CRM\Server\bin\Microsoft.Crm.Sandbox.HostService.exe "

Is this server where Microsoft Dynamics 365 Server is installed also functions as domain controller?

This error is expected to be fixed in v9.0_onpremise build 9.0.0002.2017

Please make sure that you are installing the latest build of v9.0 and let us know if the same error occurs?

    Thanks,

    Hudson

Finally, I got the resolution of the issue after spending continuously a day and night. Its around 3:19am that I got this fix and finally got the CRM 9.0 installation successful.

This is related to Performance Counter, in my case every time this exception was occurring Event Viewer was logging error about PerfNet which I have ignoring but finally figured out that its having impact on this setup. So I went to services and found "service" was disabled and when I enabled it, surprisingly got success.

Later on I found some exceptions of ServicePrincipalNames for Sandbox and Asynch services wasn't being set by setup so I ignored and set the SPN manually.

Below link has been very useful to finally resolve the issue.
