How to make Batch group Mandatory in Storage dimension group

Hi all,

How to make Batch group Mandatory in Storage dimension group in AX 2009. Since we unable to make it as mandatary.

Path : Inventory dimension-->dimension group --> Storage Dimension Group

Is this is good practice to make batch group as mandatory..?

Please any one give suggestion for this..

With means existing setup, While creating receipt, it asks to fill site, warehouse and Batch number as mandatory. But in same case on issuing the same item, it never asks for batch number(mandatory) to be fill.

Is these are different in form level..??

    Thanks Mr.Rustem,

    We have enabled Batch number for the dimension group (in our case we named as Group5). With this setup, on making receipt it asks for batch number to be filled mandatory but with same item while issuing, the form not ask batch number to be filled mandatory. Posting accepts even not filling batch number.

    Hi Logendran!

    The batch number it's a field from InventDim table. You can make this field mandatory in InventDim table, but if you create another storage dimension group without batch number you will getting the errors about empty batch field. I think the best way to check batch field is to write some logic in creating/updating inventDim.

    Thanks Mattguo for your reply.

    We currently working with same configuration as shown in above picture. In our case while entering the receipt, the form asks for batch number to be filled before posting. On issuing the same item for production, the form has batch number field but never asks to be filled mandatory. Even without giving batch number it getting posted. we need to make it as mandatory to fill/select batch number before posting.

    Do you mean the same item sometimes has to fill in the batch number sometimes not?

    Could you please show some receipt screenshots?

    Hi Logendran,

    If the group has been used and the item has transactions, the group will not be allowed changing.

    My suggestion is that you can create new group and new item, create adjustment journal to adjust inventory, then stop the old item. But the workload of this way is large.

    In general, set batch for special or important item.
