Management Reporter - How to open Report Designer in OneBox environment (Contoso)

Hello all Dynamics professionals,

I hosted the D365 F&O OneBox (with Contoso data)  on Hyper-V. When I attempted to open the report designer through General Ledger > Inquires and Reports > Financial reports. I've got an error message 'Can't connect to the Management Reporter server. Do you want to specify a different server address?'

The server address I am using is 'https://usnconeboxax1aos.cloud.onebox.dynamics.com/FinancialReporting/'. When I test the connection. The error is 'Connection attempt failed. User does not have appropriate permissions to connect to the server. Contact your system administrator.

I have already assigned 'Security administrator' security role to my user ID. I can also run the out of the box financial reports within D365 F&O.

How to resolve this problem?

I also cannot find the 'management reporter Configuration console' in the OneBox environment. Typically this can be found in AX 2012. How can I access the configuration console?

    Hello Gordon,

    I am also new in dynamics F&O, but I used the report designer much. When I can not open the report designer, I found out one solution that is SystemAdministration role. You need to assign SystemAdministration role to your account. I think it makes sense. Because you open an external program and the program can connect to accounts. It is private informations.

    Hi Gordon,

    General Ledger/Inquiries & Reports/Financial reports/

    Select Edit from the options bar and should come up with a dialogue box asking to run the report designer. Select OPEN and the Management Reporter will open in the new window.
