Having to rebuild MR DataMart after every version 2018.3.1200 update

Posted on by 1,455

I find the information published to update the change tracking in MR does not fix anything and have had to go through the complete rebuild process of MR DataMart on every client that has tried to run their financials after the update was applied. Since I have about 40 clients, this is time consuming and adds a great deal of stress to my already full plate of assisting clients with payroll year end processes. So far this has only been on the 2018 clients, but I haven't heard from all client yet.

Due to a change with GP18.3, it is required to reconfigure change tracking after the upgrade. Terry added a note to the blog that mentions this (I believe you referred to it):

    community.dynamics.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-gp-2020-new-feature-blog-series-schedule-410418203

    This is the process:

-Log into the MR server as a user who is an Administrator in MR.

    -Start the MR Configuration Console.

    -Select the data mart integration.

-Click the "Reconfigure change tracking link" at the top right.

    -Enter 'sa' credentials.

-Click Data Mart Integration under Logs and click the Refresh button to confirm the errors stop.

We have seen this process correct the change tracking errors so if that didn't fix it for you, I'm not sure why. Note that it can take some time before you start seeing successful messages as MR waits until the next time the task is scheduled to run and some of the longer ones like GL Transaction to Fact can take a while. Maybe try waiting for a while and refresh to confirm they eventually go away.

One other thing to note is that if the change tracking errors were allowed to persist and users started to use the system before it was enabled, you may be missing data in the data mart and that would require a rebuild. I apologize for any inconvenience this creates.

I can second this. We have had to rebuild the datamart after applying 18.3.1200. Not sure why.
