I try to create extension for HcmPosition form . A new datasource is added to the form extension then some of its fields are dragged & dropped to form design .

When I build the project I face the error "The duplicate name 'XXXXXXX' was detected. The duplication is either in the base element that extension applies to or in other sibling extensions" for field control dragged from the new data source. I am very sure that the control names are never used .

What may cause such error and how it can be resolved ?

Hi Maram,

Can you share a screenshot of the exact error message? The name should be unique across all elements of all models.

I try to add static text field with a name (MaramTest) to be sure that this control name never used as per the second screenshot.

When I compile the project I face two errors as per the second screenshot.

What if you remove the datasource (as you don't use it for the static field anyway)? It will either reveal that it's related to your problem, or it will simplify the test case to the single control only.

Yes , it is just test case actuaaly the required controls have to be linked with a field in this datasource.

Anyhow the project is built with no errors after adding datasource only without any control

I did what you suggest as per the first screenshot below ; data source is removed and only adding one string text control , the same errors are resulted .

Good, it proves that the datasource has nothing to do with the problem, so we don't have to talk about it anymore.

What if you change the name to something random, such as MaramTest87757?

So far the most likely explanation is that you already have another extension with MaramTest.

The name of the control is changed to random name as per the screenshot the issue still exists .

I notice that the form has three standard extensions, does this have any effect on how the new extension have to be created ?

I can't reproduce your problem - I can add MaramTest control to PayrollTabPage without problems (the only difference is that I used a string edit control, because static text isn't allowed there due to the sub-pattern).

Try reproducing the problem in another environment. Also, I see you have some overlayering in the form - test whether it's related to the problem or not. Again, you'll either find a correlation or you'll further simplify your test case.
