NAV2018 CU2: Not having access to Global variable details in pages?

Hi,

I'm just getting puzzled with this: in a codeunit or in a page object, e.g. Page 6630 Sales Return Order - In C/SIDE, I was trying to add a global variable for some testing purposes. I still can add it, but can't define its SubType or Length; if I export the object as .txt, I see it has been added as Integer.

All the existing globals in the Page object are visible, but don't show their Length. Some don't show their SubType, although we know some of them being Booleans, for example.

So far, I have noticed this apparent issue in Pages and Codeunits.

Did anyone get something like this? Please note this is with NAV 2018 CU2. The dev. license I'm using is still for NAV 2017, might that be the issue?

Global variables has been added successfully on page 6630 with 2017 and 2018 licenses.

Just checked in NAV 2018 CU2 and it is working fine. When you say you can't define is it throwing an error or it is not editable ?

Try to compile the page and try again.

The SubType and Length columns get not editable. I can enter the new variable name but then simply cannot enter SubType in there. Even after recompiling the page, and this happens in virtually any page. It might be something with my installation. I'll backup my dev databases and will install fresh.

Laptop is Windows 10 with windows update in order.

Repaired the installation; removed; reinstalled CU2. Always behaving the same as earlier. Removed; after installing CU1 instead, same behaviour. This must be something related with my machine.

Solved. It looks like somehow, despite having removed/installed the full product several times, the "Data Type" column was hidden in the C/AL Globals and I was repeating over and over the mistake of trying to directly change the "Subtype". After showing the "Data Type" column, the normal handling got "normal", as it always had been. A bit ashamed by being mislead this easy, and I haven't been smoking strange things.
