Can't Create Opportunities

I've been working on creating new security roles for my client's system. I've run into an issue where a security role with Create, Read, Write, Append, Append To on the Opportunity entity can not create a new Opportunity. Am I missing permissions somewhere to create Opportunities?

Thanks

James F.

    Hi James,

    Few Points

    1. Have you created the role from scratch or have you copied any existing role to make a new one.

    2. Can the user see "+" plus sign to create a new Opportunity from the Opportunity View? If yes then they have access to Create

    3. If above do not apply, can you please dump the screen with error here.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

    1. We've take over working on their CRM instance from another company and they have complete changed all the original roles (minus sys customizer and admin). So the roles I have been made from scratch with great planning and research. The role has all the minimum required permissions to login to CRM.

    2. With there role there is no option in the ribbon menu to add a new opportunity. I can still open opportunities and read them I also have access to the actions "Close as Won" , "Close as Lost" "Recalculate Opportunity"

I just don't have access to the records section of the Ribbon "New", "Edit", "Delete"

I've also checked the Solution.xml file and the role has global permissions for (Create, Read, Write, Append, Appned TO)

    3. I haven't recieved any visible errors from this.

    James,

Usually when it is related to permission or access denied issue, you can download the log.

I think your security is correct, but somehow you need another parent entity privilege, let's say you are in the Account form.

You want to create Opportunity under Account, you need to have those Opportunity privileges + Append To privilege in the Account entity security.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.

    James:

Also if you have assigned a Team to that User that could be the problem too or if you have assigned the user to more than one Security role.

I've enabled Append To on Account and another one of their Custom Entity's and it gave me the ability to create a new opportunity. Do you know of any other possible permissions that would give the ability to edit opportunities?

Currently they don't use teams in their business unit every thing for them have been purely based on applying roles directly to the user accounts.
