How to create a data enitity in VS

Hi All:

I have created a simply data enitity 'MyDataEntity1' within VS development enviroment (VHD) . But it doesn't appear in Data enitity name lookup list in the data import form.

Are there any steps I left out ? Could you give some suggestions?

Hi Jacky,

Have you build and sync database. And refresh entity list? And enable data management?

Hi Jacky,

once everything is built and synced, you need to refresh the data entity list via Data management parameters form.

Yes, I had done 'refresh the data entity list' as the following illustation, and I had got the refresh success message. Yet, the entity was not visible.

I'm going to check my bulit is successful or not.

Hi Jacky,

a couple of things to consider, once you are sure that you have built your model and synchronized the database.

- The label of the entity must be unique. If the label text of your entity is the same than some existing entity, then your entity's name will be shown as the label id that you used as the entity label. So there can never be two entries in the Data entities form that would have the same value in "Entity" field (the first field in the grid).

- You can also try to filter the form by "Target entity" field, using the AOT name of your entity as filtering criteria

- Please also check that you have set "DataManagementEnabled" property Yes in the entity.

Hi Nikolaos, Blue:

From your comments, I realized that there might be some problems in my build. Therefore, I checked my VS build and really found out the reason. Now I will report to you.

Due to my careless mistake, I hadn't set up 'Synchronize database on bulid' to 'true' in property of my project. I turned it to 'true' and refreshed data entities,then the 'MyDataEntity1' become be visible now. My problem has been solved, yet could you teach me which database does contain define table of these entities ?

Hi, the entity is a view and can be found in AxDB database. Also all D365 tables are in that db.

AxDW is Entity Store database and it's used by the aggregate measurements.
