Hi,

I need to migrate data from AX 2012 to D365 fno .

I want to know how I can move data from AX 2012 to D365 fno wrt Documents attached to the table.

For eg. We can have a note or customer report attached to a customer master (the top left button of attachment).

Below is my understanding

In AX 2012 data is stored in docuref, docuvalue for all the data related to notes, image or word /pdf document . All this get stored in a container in AX 2012.

In D365 same concept as 2012 .

Now Please let me know if my understanding is correct

However somewhere it is said that in D365 attached docs are stored in Azure blob.

Also how will I move this data from AX 20122 to D365.

Also a request if someone can help me how to move the same to advanced notes in D365

Thanks,

Vikas

    Hi Vikas,

You can read the next documentation and blog for some help:

Migrate document attachments to AX7 | Microsoft Docs

    Hi ,

The link provided is to convert the links in D365 to azure but before that how do I migrate those data in D365. I need to run this in D365 right ?

eg. I have a customer having attachment files for custInvoice and I want that after data migration this too shall show up in the D365 FO.

The Migrate button in the document parameters will change the archive to Azure link that is understood but my 1st check point is that how data needs to be pushed from AX 2012 to D365 related to documents..

Now On goggling is see that there are lots of blogs saying different things and that too are not clear.

    Eg.

Below post says microsoft recommends to create some custom table and then run scripts

    community.dynamics.com/.../attachment-migration-from-ax-2012-r3-to-dynamics-365-for-finance-operations

Below link talks about converting the db related attachments to azure
Migrate document attachments to AX7 | Microsoft Docs

And in one of the blog below is mentioned

Here are some steps Microsoft has suggested  to migrate the files:

    1. AX 2012 – Store all attachment file from Archived/SharePoint/OrginalLocation to database as a Blob data through script
    2. AX 2012 – Export data of DocuRef and DocuValue Tables
    3. D365 – Import data of DocuRef and DocuValue tables using DocuRefEntity
    4. D365 – Read each record of DocuValue table, access previously stored Blob data in DocuValue table --> File field through script
    5. D365 – Using Storage Provider, convert blob data to file and save it to Azure storage

Now I am totally confused on what should be the rela approach because in my case the documents are stored in a archive directory in Ax 2012 and it needs to be imported to D365  but before that some process or script needs to be executed so that it gets saved in the db and then I can just run the script or migrate button to see the actual files of AX 2012.

Microsoft needs to share proper documentation on this

    thanks,

    VK
