I know in CRM 4.0 the tabs on a form are horizontal, and in the unified interface they have gone back to horizontal tabs.
In which version of CRM did Microsoft change the tabs on a form to vertical?

We changed the tabs together with the introduction of UCI.
If I'm not mistaking, we introduced UCI as part of Model Driven Apps in 8.2, I'm not 100% sure if it was 8.2 or 9.0, but for sure one of them.
I remember working with 2013, where if I'm not mistaking we started to have vertical tabs, we had been using vertical tabs on forms since CRM 2013 and we will continue to use them until the Web Legacy client will not be available anymore.
