CRM SDK Incompatible With Universal Windows Platform App

I'm trying to find out how to connect to CRM (query, create, update entities) in a Windows Universal Platform App. The 'regular' CRM SDK isn't compatible. There are a couple of articles, but they are 5 years old.

Isn't there an SDK for this yet? If so where? Any examples of work arounds or how to do it if not?
