Project Stage Rules AX

When creating a project from a project quote, I'm getting an error message that Project stage created does not allow the creating of an Item requirement. Fine. I go into the parameters and attempt to check the box for Create item tasks - just like all the documentation says to do - but that box is greyed out and I cannot allow the created stage to create an item task. The documentation says I should be able to check that box and others.

My alternative is to manually change the project stage and then create the item requirement, but that seems silly. Am I missing something here?

Thanks!

What  project type, stage are you trying to enable Create item tasks? There are hard coded restrictions for some project types and stages.  For example "Created" stage is hard code to not allow most actions.

It's created. I am using the create project feature from the quote, and naturally it will be in created. But it also asks if I want to create an Item requirement, so why would it even ask that if the stage it has to go to is created, and that stage doesn't allow item tasks? And why does the documentation say, in both 2009 and 2012, that you can allow it? I realize it is hard coded since they're greyed out, but how would you ever create an item requirement except in a manual, round about way?

There was a hot fix to prevent item requirements creation unless the stage allowed it.

This issue with was introduced by the hot fix. Log a bug with support to have it addressed.

As a work around, while you are creating a new project from the quotation, don't create the item requirement items. After the project has been moved to a stage which allow for item requirements, you can create the Item Requirements from the quotation.

As a side note projects don't have to start in the "Created" stage. A new project will start in the first stage allowed by the project type. Unless you have a review or project management process which requires it to be started as Created and them moved to In-Process, the project can be created in In-Process which will also solve this problem.
