I have a problem when i run "adjust cost item entries" batch job. The system is shown message " There is insufficient memory (Stack) to execute this function". When i filtered  the item no that was with problem the function started to run and the message was shown for a different item no.

Any suggestion will be helpful for me.

    Hello Hano,

Thank you for the clarification and update. With Manufacturing not being involved, you have eliminated the rework manufacturing issues from the equation.  This helps to at least exclude some of the cause for adjustment of cost issues.

From my research, the key change in Hotfixes for Transfer Looping is the Knowledge Base Article 2520219 changes.  My first inclination is that you probably have Average Costing and you use Average Cost By Item Location & Variant for the Average Cost Calculation Type. When you start processing a great deal of Transfers with some movement back to the originating location, you can generate scenarios that the Adjust Cost adjusts one location and then goes through the other locations, only to return back to the original Location adjustments to further process adjustments. The result is a cycle that must be broken, which the code change in KB 2520219 is intended to help manage.

These are my thoughts on the issue and hopefully provide further direction for you and your partner to pursue.

    Best Regards

    Tom

I tried to find something strange in item application entry, value entry, item ledger entry but records seems to be ok.

In the hotfixes  of Nav i do not find any thing. I talked with my partner but i have not get any resolution till now.

    Some additional information:

I am using the  nav database  2009 sp1 version W1. My company is in the distribution industry. We have not any assembled product  and we are not using any manufacturing functionality.

We have a big number of transfer orders between  locations

    Hello Hano,

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Forum.

The error: "There is insufficient memory (Stack) to execute this function." is typically an indication of a loop in the Adjust Cost Item Entries process and must be analyzed further through database review. The error is also dependent upon the specific Dynamics NAV database version being used.  There are certain corrections published to help address the looping scenario and in certain cases, data analysis and correction to work around the issue.  Therefore, the issue will require contacting your partner (if you are a customer) or contacting Microsoft Dynamics NAV support (if you are a Partner) for your region through entering a case on Partner Source to further facilitate the analysis of the issue.

General guidance related to Adjust Cost Item Entries and possible issues is provided at the following link on Customer Source

    https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/documentation/howtodocuments/msdnav5adjustcostebatch.htm?printpage=false&sid=sezrdccb3ilwmv5snhuxpvmf&stext=Adjust_Cost_Item_Entries_loop

The most typical issue with the insufficient memory stack error is that Manufacturing posting has occurred where Output is consumed on the same Production Order to make the same Item.  This "rework production" can result in issues because of costing interdependencies that result from Output Cost being dependent on the cost of the same Item consumed on the same production order. An additional scenario  existed in some versions due to circular transfers among locations, such as transfer from Location A to B to C back to A, where the system adjusts A cost, pushes to B cost, which pushes to C cost, and then back to A, thus going again through the path of adjustment.

All application Hotfixes for NAV 2009 SP1/R2 are included on the following link on Customer Source.

    https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/downloads/hotfixes/nav2009sp1apphotfixoverview.htm

Key corrections include 2520219 2533593, and 2481793 for the issue. However, there are some additional changes that may come into play. This depends upon Version of database for NAV and whether other Hotfixes are applied, too.

There is very much complexity involved in the scenario presented, so I would highly recommend engaging with one of the mentioned methods above.  The Community Forum, although a great source for seeking guidance and information, is not the complete means for managing a case of this nature. I hope you understand.

Have a good day and best wishes for resolving the issue.
    Best Regards,
    Tom
