Is there a way to enable two factor authentication on Great Plains version 2018?

I assume you mean for login purposes, correct? If that's the case, I think that's only possible with something like FastPath Config AD.

2FA was added to GP emailing capabilities with the October 2020 (18.3) release. You can read more about it here - Multi-Factor Authentication - Dynamics GP | Microsoft Docs.

To add to what Mariano mentioned, if using Exchange emailing in Dynamics GP, you must be on a minimum of the Oct 2021 release but recommended 18.4, most current release, and be using the new Modern Authentication configuration by Oct. 1st, 2022.

On that date, basic authentication will be permanently disabled by O365/Exchange Online, so if using those with your Exchange emailing in Dynamics GP, the emailing authentication will no longer work without this new Modern Authentication configuration.

The only other option would be to begin using MAPI, which would require a 32-bit email application/Outlook.

Does GP 2018 Workflow emails work with DUO Authentication?

In Workflow, which used to work perfectly well, the notification emails sending. I've gone through all of the troubleshooting & worked with various members of our team, but cannot get it working together. After the first email goes out (Assignment), users get an email & can approve or reject using the email. However, the notifications don't go out & GP freezes when try to approve using the Workflow button in the window.

Any advise is very much appreciated.

Dynamics GP has never been officially tested with DUO authentication, so we wouldn't be able to guarantee one way or the other.

That being said, I have heard of different customers trying to use DUO authentication, though we don't have any process or setup information for it.

Maybe someone here on the forums using it may be able to provide information they've seen work for them.

Thank you, Derek. If we get something working, I will post it out there. There is a lot involved in getting the email & 2FA working together...but we have the remittances working at least.

Hi Adam

Are you talking about GP 2018 (v18.0) or GP (no year) (v18.2 or later)? You really want to be on 18.4 or 18.5 at this time.

Since Fastpath is no longer selling Config AD. Does anyone know a product that can successfully allow SSO with GP? Has anyone ever tried DUO with GP?

There is no MFA feature built into GP when opening the application. However, David Musgrave points out you can use GP Power Tools to enforce a prompt when launching GP.
