Empty license plate numbers

Hi,

I have a situation where I'm using WHS processes (AX2012 R3 CU8) and I'm getting new license plates generated a lot. All the items get license plate at some point so on-hand form looks pretty busy. The problem is that after the item has been shipped and license plate is empty, you can still see the earlier assigned LP's on that item.

So my question is that is there any way to get rid of those license plates on on-hand form? For example, any clean up batch job? Because in the reality, the item isn't on those license plate any more. I know that I can always hide the LP field from Dimension display, but that's something I don't want to do because I need to see the quantities over zero.

    RE: Empty license plate numbers

Hi, I have the same question.

I found that I can delete empty license plates via: Warehouse managment > Setup > Warehouse setup > License plates, but I'm only succesful for license plates that have no transactions on them.

When I try deleting a License plate that has transactions on them, I get this warning: "The record cannot be deleted. Open transactions exist in table On-hand inventory".

I guess the open transactions need to be closed first. I think this is done with Inventory management > Periodic > Closing and adjustment. As far as I can see, this procedure has been done only two times so far in our organisation. My additional question is thus: when we run this "Closeing and adjustment" form - are all the transactions deleted? Because some of these trasactions still hold interesting information to us (like to keep track of consumption of articles etcetera). I don't want to lose all that information.

Any help is most appreciated. And, happy new year, y'all.

You can write a periodic Job to delete LPs that are empty.

Alternately, when a LP becomes empty, you can also reuse the same LP for other incoming stock.

We have a lot of Transfer receipts, so on each receipt, the System Looks for an empty LP before collecting the item in a new LP.

Of Course, this has to be programmed.

Hi Crispin, thanks for your reply. Would this periodic job to delete LP's also need to be programmed?

And do you know the answer to my second question - if we run the "Closing and adjustment" form, are all the transactions deleted? (And so will I lose the information?)

Hi Adriaan, Yes, the Job has to be programmed.

But for some reason, we decided against deleting empty ones, I don't remember exactly why. (probably because we gave Barcodes to all LPs)

To your second question, I don't think any Transaction will be deleted.

    Hi Adriaan,

What is the Inventory model on your item(s) Item model group?

Hi Guy - thanks for asking. We're using the Standard cost Inventory model for most items.

But, for service items we're apparantly using FIFO. There are not a lot of those however.

With this Inventory Model, is regular "closing" of the inventory advised?

In my experience, if the On-hand inquiry will fill with 'dead' records and you are using both WHS and Standard Cost, then the clean up job 'On-hand aggregation by financial dimension' will tidy those up for you. Can you try it in a test environment?

Note - if you decide to use this job and are not running CU12 or later, you should investigate the updated hotfix KB2951209; else you may find the job makes it impossible to assign new standard costs.

    Hi Guy,

For Item Model group "FIFO" it's FIFO

For Item Model Group "Services" It's FIFO

For Item Model Group "STK" it's Weighted Avg date
