Will GP 2016 workflow impacted by the basic authentication being deprecated

We are in GP 2016 and using workflow for purchase requisition.

In the System Prefrence we use MAPI

In Workflow setup we use SMTP server with windows authnticatiin.

Will the workflow email notification continue to be working after MS turning off basic authentication?

Just trying to find a clear answer,

Hello,

At this point the information we have is that Basic Authentication is not being deprecated for SMTP connections. If anything you may run into an issue with SMTP as described in the following article:

community.dynamics.com/.../dynamics-gp-workflow-intermittent-emails-failing

Thank you very much Lucas!

Just to make sure I fully understand, so we can continue using GP 2016 workflow emailing after Dec 31 with the option of opt-in and using legacy smtp.

The reason I stress this because there are some posts and vedio mentioned that there is no workaround for workflow emailing other than upgarding to 18.3 or higher or using a 3rd party emailing.

Hello,

Email from Dynamics GP that uses Exchange (e.g. EFT, customer statements, etc.) will probably no longer work at this point if you're using Exchange Online or M365 for your email service, but as far as we've heard on the GP side of things the SMTP endpoints should be good to continue working with Basic Authentication for the foreseeable future.
