Changing external localization provider in D365FO

Hi All,

Our project team is not satisfied with the time required to deliver changes as well as with the quality of these changes done by an external localization partner. We've been using their solution for some time, but now we're considering to switch off their localization and install another one.

I guess the normal procedure is to turn off the license key for the old one and turn on the license key for the new package, but my concern/question is how we should manage the data and avoid any loss when there are some localization/country specific fields?

Also if my understanding on "how to swap ISVs" is not proper - I'll be happy to hear any feedback from people that passed trough such process.

Thanks.

I have the same question (0)

If you are removing the ISV add-on from your system, custom fields from ISV will be dropped. You will need to perform some kind of data migration to your new solution.

    Hello ypeychinov,

If you drop the ISV solution will you be able to do track and audit data that you might need for local statutory purposes?

As Nuno Maja mentioned, you might lose some of the data and an important question is whether this data loss might cause some issues with local legal reports that you have to submit.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

There might be differences between one localization and the other. Ensure the new localization package will support the data migration as mentioned by Nuno. Probably, the data migration might require some customizations to fill e.g. new fields in transaction tables. The localization partner should be able to advice you here.
