Number of AOS servers in Infrastructure estimator

Recently I started to use Dynamics Lifecycle Services(https://lcs.dynamics.com/),when I create a project and click the tool "usage profiler" ,then click "Deployment details", there are a few questions I need to answer in  "Deployment details".  One of those is "Across the enterprise, what is the peak number of concurrent users?".

My answer is 100,then I mark completer for  "usage profiler",then I click another tool "Infrastructure estimator",

I create a new estimate for production environment, the system provides the estimated result and the number of AOS is 2.

Then I continue to change the peak number of concurrent users and create new estimates. Below is the results:

peak number :  500    AOS number :3

peak number :  1000    AOS number :5

peak number :  1500    AOS number :2

peak number :  2000    AOS number :2

peak number :  3000    AOS number :2

I don't understand: Why when the peak number reached and exceed 1500,the AOS number does not increase and fall to 2 instead?  Is it a bug in "Infrastructure estimator"?

Thanks

As with your other thread, isn't this question actually about AX 2012? Maybe you selected a wrong category when creating your threads here...

The infrastructure estimator (for AX 2012) isn't intended to cover large implementations. That requires a more sophisticated approach than this simple tool can offer.

If you consult the documentation (you always should), you'll what Microsoft say about it there: Because few data points are used to create an estimate, the estimate will be rough, and sizing limits are relatively low. Therefore, the Infrastructure estimator can’t currently address the needs of large implementations.

Infrasturcture estimatior is not a good measure to decide on instances.

It depends on what modules do you activate and configure for active use, what are the modules which have the highest amount of peak concurrent users, are you using any ISV solutions (and how many, how robust), do you have many customizations, are you doing heavy reporting or integration, etcetera.

The rule of thumb is that a regular system can handle 100-150 users with mixed load per AOS instance. A large-scale implementation which I have been part of had 250 concurrent sessions with about 5 ISV solutions and heavy customizations per AOS on 3 user servers, and 2 additional ones for batch and 1 more for reporting. You should also consider whether you want to be highly available, by having a duplicate of each AOS instance (which we have), in case site one would go down, the other sites' active AOS instances could take the full load.

So the summary of this post is that "it depends", and do not rely on that tool.

Thank you, Vilmos and Martin. You answers really help. I am new to estimate of hardware infrastructure.
