Issue embedding marketing form on staging website

Hi there

The marketing agency of my client is currently adjusting the css stylesheet in order to change the styling of the standard controls of our Dynamics marketing forms. Embedding is done as a script generated on the form page.

Embedding works fine on the clients productive website and also local for the developer. There is however an issue with embedding the form on the staging site for quality control.

The relevant subdomain has been whitelisted, but there is no change. I always get the same error:

The domain where this form is embedded might not be enlisted as a domain record for externally hosted forms. Otherwise, a browser extension or plugin may be blocking this form from loading. Review and reload form to continue.

I checked the subdomain with "location.href" and added it as domain entry in the marketing settings.

the url is:
http://***.***.com:8080/de/node/702

Could the http (without s) or the :8080 be the issue?

As you menyioned, Could the http (without s) or the :8080 be the issue? This may be a possibility that you can try.

Or have you tried to use other browsers to test it?

Thanks for the answer. I tried with different browsers and also in inkognito mode (with cookies enabled). Unfortunately it didn't change anything.

As it is a staging website by the marketing agency, I can't change a lot about the http or :8080. Do you have any suggestion, what could be changed there?

Hi Lukas,

Some marketing forms features (especially form pre-fill) require encrypted https communication due to security reasons. Http (without s) communication isn't encrypted, and it could therefore expose sensitive data. I think this could be the root cause of your issue.

Hi Lukas,

I double checked this with our development team. The HTTPS is required for the form prefill, but it shouldn't prevent rendering the form if the domain is whitelisted. The problem is with the port number. The whitelisting is ignoring port numbers. Is it possible to set up a stage environment without the custom port number?

Thank you for doublechecking with the dev team! Unfortunately they won't change the custom port situation for this small problem. I can't confirm by testing, but I think that is the most probable cause for the issue.

Please verify if you have external form hosting enabled?
You can check this for your domain record under Marketing app settings...
