Form modifications using VBA

Posted on by 365

Many versions back in Dynamics GP I modified two forms using Visual Basic.  They did not successfully migrate when we upgraded to GP 2018 in January of this year.  Our vulnerability management system has flagged the server with visual basic vulnerabilites.  These form modifications appear in the list of Customization Maintenance.  How do I delete them from the list and remove them from the server?  I've replaced the modifications with macros which are working fine.

    Richard,

I tried your suggestion in my test environment and it worked perfectly.  Thank you so much.  Now I'm ready to do it in production.

    Hi Almas

You should have a play with GP Power Tools. It uses Dexterity triggers and scripts as well as SQL, C# and VB.Net scripts.

It also has a suite of helper functions that can do things not possible in any of those languages natively.

Install it and activate the free trial period.

    Regards

You should consider migrating away from VBA as it has a number of issues now that it has reach end of life.

Have a read of this article explaining your options:

First, backup your FORMS.DIC and DYNAMICS.VBA files and then delete them. Launch GP and check for any errors. Go to the forms that were modified to insure they all work. If all looks good delete the DYNAMICS.VBA file from other workstations. You will also want to go to Tools->Setup->System->Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports and make sure the original form is checked for use.
